Colome hopes to keep closing games with Chicago White Sox

Alex Colome has been traded twice in the past 14 months. A third time would not be a charm.

"It is (hard) because once you are used to a place, to a team and teammates, it's difficult when you are traded because then you need to restart the process again and get used to a new city, new teammates and a new team," Colome said Tuesday through a translator. "I feel very good here. I know that this is a business, but I feel really good here and I just try to control what I can control."

Colome has been in near complete control as the Chicago White Sox's closer this season, converting 21 of 22 save opportunities.

The 30-year-old righty is about as consistent as they come in the high-pressure role, and that's why his name is out there as Wednesday's 3 p.m. trade deadline approaches.

"It feels good because that makes you know you are doing your job," Colome said of the trade rumors. "You are doing what you are supposed to do, and there are a lot of people that appreciate that. That's something that gives you more confidence or motivation to keep doing your job."

Traded from the Rays to the Mariners last May and from Seattle to the Sox in November, Colome would feel better staying put. He is under contract through the 2020 season.

"I like the way the coaches treat the players and how they work together," Colome said. "Then the second part is all the talent that this team has and how those young guys are starting to develop to the potential of the players that they can be."

Robert fan:

Back with the White Sox after missing more than a month recovering from a sprained ankle, Tim Anderson got to play with top prospect Luis Robert during his rehab assignment with Class AAA Charlotte.

"Off the charts," Anderson said. "Unbelievable player. He can hit, he can do everything. It was good to go down and spend a few days with him. He's real good. He looked way better than he looked in spring training. He's continuing to get better and he looks relaxed."

Will Anderson push general manager Rick Hahn to bring Robert up to the Sox?

"Nah, that's not my job," Anderson said. "But if he keeps doing what he's doing, I don't think I'll have to. I think Rick Hahn will call him up. He brings a lot of tools. He can run, he's fast. He's a good defensive player and he can hit. He can do everything."

Roster move:

In addition to Tim Anderson coming off the injured list Tuesday, the White Sox recalled relief pitcher Carson Fulmer from Class AAA Charlotte and optioned outfielder Ryan Cordell to Triple-A.

Fulmer has been up and down all season, going 1-1 with a 6.32 ERA in 13 games (1 start) over four stints with the Sox.

Cordell hit .234 with 5 home runs and 18 RBI in 69 games.

Rondon claimed:

Designated for assignment Sunday, infielder Jose Rondon was claimed by the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday.

In 55 games with the White Sox this season, Rondon batted .197 with 3 home runs and 9 RBI.
