Your guide to Chicago White Sox home opener

Hundreds of Chicago White Sox fans probably were upset about Thursday's home opener being postponed until Friday due to rain and cold weather.

Thousands are probably grateful, given the differences in the forecast.

The skies are expected to be clear and temperatures nearly 20 degrees warmer Friday as the Sox make their 2019 debut at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Here is a guide for the first home game of the season:

New faces:

Left fielder Eloy Jimenez, first baseman/DH Yonder Alonso, starting pitcher Ivan Nova, catcher James McCann, relievers Alex Colome, Kelvin Herrera and Manny Banuelos, catcher James McCann, outfielder Jon Jay (10-day injured list).

They're gone:

Right fielder Avisail Garcia (Tampa Bay), catcher Omar Narvaez (Seattle), catcher Kevan Smith (L.A. Angels), DH/infielder Matt Davidson (Texas/Class AAA Nashville), reliever Hector Santiago (N.Y. Mets/Class AAA Syracuse).

Get to know:

Jimenez. At 22, he's one of the youngest players in the major leagues. The left fielder also has a chance to become the White Sox's best young hitter since Frank Thomas.

Equal parts nervous and eager, Jimenez batted .200/.273/.200 with no home runs and 2 RBI through the Sox's first five games at Kansas City and Cleveland.

The 6-foot-4, 245-pounder has the outgoing personality to instantly become a fan favorite, and he can't wait to play his first game at Guaranteed Rate Field.

"They're going to expect a lot," Jimenez said. "Just play hard, don't try to do too much and enjoy it."

First pitch:

For Friday's home opener, new Hall of Famer Harold Baines will throw the ceremonial first pitch.

National anthem:

Miguel Cervantes, the singer/actor known for his role as Alexander Hamilton in the hit Broadway musical "Hamilton," is scheduled to perform.

Festivities:

Parking lots open at 10 a.m. and gates to the ballpark open at 11 a.m. There will be a flyover by VFA-213 (F/A-18s) of the United States Navy.
