White Sox invite 20 non-roster players to spring training

The White Sox agreed to terms with six players on minor-league contracts Tuesday, and all received non-roster invitations to spring training.

An interesting name on the list is right-handed pitcher Randall Delgado, who is 30-29 with a 4.10 ERA in 271 career games (53 starts) with the Braves and Diamondbacks.

Delgado was slowed by shoulder and oblique injuries with Arizona last season. The 28-year-old pitcher was 2-0 with a 4.76 ERA in 10 games. His best year was 2015, when he was 8-4 with a 3.25 ERA in 64 games with the Diamondbacks.

Infielders Ryan Goins, D.J. Peterson and Matt Skole and right-handed pitchers Evan Marshall and Donn Roach also signed minor-league deals with the Sox.

From within the White Sox's system, right-handed pitchers Jimmy Lambert and Zach Thompson; left-handers Bernardo Flores, Jordan Guerrero and Colton Turner; catchers Zack Collins, Alfredo Gonzalez and Nate Nolan; infielders Nick Madrigal and Danny Mendick; and outfielders Luis Gonzalez, Luis Robert, Blake Rutherford and Charlie Tilson received spring invites.

In six seasons with the Blue Jays and Royals, Goins has a .228/.274/.333 hitting line with 20 home runs and 148 RBI in 489 games.

Peterson, the No. 12 overall pick in the 2013 draft (Mariners), has never played in the major leagues. He was in the Sox's system in 2017 with Class AAA Charlotte.

Skole and Roach have also played for Charlotte, and Skole played in 4 games with the White Sox last season.

In five years with the Diamondbacks, Mariners and Indians, Marshall was 4-7 with a 5.15 ERA in 101 relief appearances.

As for the players in the Sox's system heading to training camp, Robert, Madrigal, Rutherford and Collins are all Top 10 prospects.

White Sox pitchers and catchers report to Camelback Ranch in Glendale. Ariz., on Feb. 13 for the first workout of spring training. Position players report on Feb. 18.
