After being claimed off waivers by Cubs, Clarkin back with White Sox

What a strange stretch for Ian Clarkin.

Last Tuesday, the White Sox's left-hander was claimed off waiver by the Cubs.

On Monday, the Sox claimed the 23-year-old pitcher off waivers from the Cubs. Getting Clarkin back puts the White Sox's 40-man roster at 39.

Clarkin was a combined 4-5 with a 4.76 ERA in 25 games (12 starts) with the Arizona League Sox, high Class A Winston-Salem and AA Birmingham last season. He missed five weeks with a groin injury suffered in late May, but Clarkin finished the season strong (1 earned run in 15 innings) pitching out of Birmingham's bullpen.

Clarkin joined the White Sox in July 2018 in a trade from the Yankees that sent Todd Frazier, David Robertson and Tommy Kahnle to New York. Clarkin was the Yankees' first-round draft pick (No. 33 overall) in 2013.
