Girls volleyball: Huntley cruises past Jacobs

Julia Johnson led the offense for Huntley in a 25-9, 25-9 win over Jacobs on Tuesday.

Johnson had 5 kills for the Red Raiders (5-0) while Sarah Zayas had 14 assists and Taylor Jakubowski finished with 10 digs. Tai Ramirez led the defense for the Golden Eagles (1-3) with 10 digs and Maggie Wallenberger had 6 kills for Jacobs' offense.

McHenry d. Dundee-Crown 25-13, 25-20: Jenna Brown had 11 digs, 5 assists, and 3 kills to lead Dundee-Crown (0-5, 0-4). Payton Schmidt finished with 5 assists, 4 digs, and 2 kills for the Chargers and Claire Muhvic had 10 digs.

Lake Park d. Batavia 25-27, 27-25, 25-21: In one of the hardest fought volleyball matches to be played this season, the Lancers (2-4, 1-0) barely edged out the Bulldogs. Becca Robinson finished with 34 assists, 4 blocks and 9 digs for Batavia (4-9, 0-1) while Ali Northrop added 4 blocks and 4 kills and Maddie Boyer had 11 kills and 10 digs.

Harvest Christian d. Schaumburg Christian 25-15, 25-11: Two freshmen had big games for the Lions (5-3) as Haley Martin had 4 kills and 2 blocks and Addy Nava added 4 aces and 5 kills. Kaitlyn Murray had 25 assists for Harvest Christian and Maya Jenkins finished with 8 kills and 8 digs.

Alden-Hebron d. Westminster Christian 25-16, 15-25, 25-13: Westminster Christian (3-6, 0-2) put up a strong fight, but it was not quite enough to overcome Alden-Hebron. Leading the way for the Warriors was Grace Bickford with 9 kills, 5 digs and 7 assists, while Grace Schmitt finished with 5 kills, 4 digs and 9 assists, and Madelyn McGraw had 3 kills, 2 aces and 6 digs.

Montini d. Romeoville 25-11, 25-16: Montini improved to 12-0 with a nonconference win over Romeoville. Paige Pickering led the attack for the Broncos with 8 kills and Julia Marciniak finished with 6 kills. Joslyn Boyer led the Montini defense with 7 digs.
