Crystal Lake Central d. Grayslake Central: At Carmel, the top-seeded Tigers won 25-13, 25-16 to capture the Class 4A regional championship.
Crystal Lake Central (30-3) advances to the Wauconda sectional and will play No. 13 Libertyville at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the semifinals.
Cassidy Beshel led Grayslake Central with 8 kills, while Lauren LaBeck had 13 assists, 4 digs and 1 ace. The Rams' other contributors included Elisa Koshy (2 kills, 2 blocks), Michelle Maraist (2 kills, 1 block), Abby Marassa (4 digs, 1 ace) and Lizzie Twardock (4 digs).
"Very proud of how our girls played at a high level tonight against one of the best teams in the state in this championship match," Rams coach Jason Janczak said. "Our team kept their focused and played with intensity throughout the match. Crystal Lake Central doesn't make very many mistakes, and it was awesome to see our girls go out there and play hard and fight for every point."
Grayslake Central finished 23-14.
"I am very proud of what the team accomplished," Janczak said. "We have a great group of seniors who led us, and we will definitely miss them next year."
