Chicago White Sox outright five players

The Chicago White Sox outrighted five players to Class AAA Charlotte on Wednesday, reducing their 40-man roster to 33.

Only one, relief pitcher Brad Goldberg, is sticking with the Sox as a nonroster player. Outfielder Rymer Liriano, left-handed pitcher David Holmberg, catcher Rob Brantly and right-handed pitcher Chris Volstad are minor-league free agents.

Goldberg made 11 relief appearances for the White Sox this season and had an 8.25 ERA.

Holmberg pitched in 37 games (7 starts) for the Sox and was 2-4 with a 4.68 ERA. Volstad was 1-2 with a 4.66 ERA in 6 appearances (2 starts).

Liriano played in 21 games with the White Sox and batted .220 with 1 home run and 6 RBI. Brantly hit .290 with 2 homers and 5 RBI in 14 games.
