Des Plaines names new community and economic development director

A key staffer in Glenview's village administration has been hired as Des Plaines' next community and economic development director.

Jeff Rogers will start in his new role later this month, Des Plaines officials announced in a news release.

He has been deputy director of community development in Glenview.

Rogers will lead the Des Plaines department that handles city planning and zoning matters, attracting businesses to town, permits and code enforcement, among other matters.

In the news release, Rogers called joining the Des Plaines city staff "a tremendous honor."

"I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to contribute to the community's continued growth and prosperity," he said. "I look forward to collaborating with the talented team here and leveraging my experience to enhance the city's development initiatives."

City Manager Mike Bartholomew hired Rogers for the open position.

Rogers succeeds John Carlisle, who resigned in early October.

Rogers will collect a $180,000 base annual salary in Des Plaines, a city spokeswoman said.
