Hanover Park warehouse fire injures four, including firefighter

Three workers and one firefighter were injured in a fire at a Hanover Park distribution warehouse Tuesday evening.

Bloomingdale Fire Protection District officials said they were called to the warehouse on the 900 block of Muirfield Drive just before 6:30 p.m. by workers reporting an oil fire inside machinery within the building.

Three workers suffered smoke inhalation and one firefighter received a minor burn, fire officials said. Two of the workers were transported to a hospital for treatment, while the third was treated and released at the scene. The firefighter also received treatment at the scene for the burn and was released.

It took firefighters nearly 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze.

The fire was blamed on an air filtration system. Damage was estimated at about $30,000.

The business was allowed to return to operations following the fire.
