Wheaton parks board to discuss Cosley Zoo parking expansion plan

A revamped plan for expanded parking for Wheaton's Cosley Zoo will be discussed at the Wheaton Park District Board of Commissioners meeting starting at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Wheaton City Council Chambers, 303 W. Wesley St.

The park district proposes a parking lot with 150 stalls covering about 1.6 acres on the east side of Gary Avenue opposite the zoo.

The zoo has an 80-stall parking lot on the west side of Gary Avenue. According to the park district, the lot reaches capacity an average of 137 days annually.

The park district initially proposed a new parking lot with 258 spaces across from the zoo but adjusted its plan due to resident feedback.
