Crash near Fox Lake car dealership sends motorcyclist to hospital

A 41-year-old motorcyclist was hospitalized with critical injuries Tuesday after crashing into a car on Route 12 near a Fox Lake car dealership, according to police.

The man, whose identity was not released, was traveling north on Route 12 at 4:27 p.m. Tuesday when he crashed into a southbound car turning left to enter Ray Chevrolet at 39 Route 12, according to Fox Lake police Cmdr. Regan Cruz.

Cruz said the motorcyclist, who had been speeding, was knocked off his bike. The motorcycle skidded after the crash and collided into a second vehicle.

The rider was conscious and alert when he was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Cruz said.
