Learn how to cut utility costs at Wheaton workshop

The Citizens Utility Board, a nonprofit consumer watchdog group, will offer tips on how to reduce electric, gas and phone bills during a free workshop Thursday at the Wheaton Public Library.

State Sen. Seth Lewis, a Bartlett Republican, and state Rep. Amy Grant, a Wheaton Republican, are partnering with CUB to host the educational clinic from 10 a.m. until noon at the library, 225 N. Cross St.

Participants will learn how to spot unnecessary or suspicious charges on gas, electric, and phone bills; learn about energy efficiency programs and rebates that can help lower utility bills; and receive tips on how to spot errors and avoid scams.

Consumers should bring their most recent gas, electric and phone bills with them so they can meet individually with a CUB expert.

For details, call Lewis' office at (630) 349-0645 or email Hannah at hseaver@sgop.ilga.gov.
