Vernon Hills to honor local veterans with banners

The village of Vernon Hills and American Legion Post 1247 want to honor residents who have honorably served or continue to serve our nation in any military capacity.

Each year, the village creates photo banners that hang on light poles around town. Service members, their families or others may nominate someone. There is no fee to the families, which are asked to provide a photo, name, rank and branch of service.

The program is available to all who live or have lived in Vernon Hills at some point.

Visit the banner program on the village website at vernonhills.org/942/Military-Honors-Banner-Program for an application or call (847) 367-3700.
