Q: Why are you running for this office, whether for reelection or election the first time? Is there a particular issue that motivates you?
A: I never thought, after 6 terms on the Lake County Board, that I would ever be doing this again, but duty calls.
Recently, I had the opportunity to apply to apply for a vacancy on the Warren Township High School Board, and I was honored to be chosen to fill out the term. Over the years on the County Board, I was able to acquire some skills and relationships that will, I believe, be beneficial to my colleagues on the High School board. As a member of the Finance committees of the County, the Forest Preserves, and the Health Department I gained experience and expertise in the management of budgets. I learned how to work collaboratively with my peers to get things done. These are attributes which I bring to the Warren Township High School Board of Education. As far as a motivational issue, campus security is primary in my mind at present.
Q: What is the role of the school board in setting and monitoring curriculum?
A: General Oversight
Q: Are there curriculum issues within the district that you feel need particular attention from the board?
A: Efforts must be made to rercover from the long term effects of the pandemic. Student scores and participation have been affected. Many have been left behind.
Q: How do you view your role in confronting policy or curriculum controversies: provide leadership even if unpopular, give a voice to constituents - even ones with whom you disagree, or defer to state authorities?
A: I have 18 years' experience as a public servant and have dealt with many controversies. In my view, the role of an elected official is to educate the public, as well as represent them.
Q: Concerns are growing regarding a new resurgence of the pandemic. If another massive outbreak of infectious disease occurs, what have we learned from the COVID-19 pandemic that will guide your decision making?
A: In class learning must be maintained as long as possible. Whatever measures required to facilitate that must be taken. (masks, distancing etc.)
Q: Describe your experience working in a group setting to determine policy. What is your style in such a setting to reach agreement and manage school district policy? Explain how you think that will be effective in producing effective actions and decisions of your school board.
A: I have learned how to get things done in a board setting. Sometimes, decisions require compromise. Treat your peers with respect, and it will be returned.

A: Experience in government, record of accomplishment
Q: What's one good idea you have to better your district that no one is talking about yet?
A: Create a county wide Board of Education caucus, to promote issues that are important to all school districts
