Mount Prospect police hosting blood drive in honor of boy with rare disorder
Mount Prospect police are hosting a blood drive from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, in honor of Anthony Hernandez, an 8-year-old cancer survivor who has a rare blood disorder.
The blood drive will take place at police headquarters, 911 E. Kensington Road. To register to make a donation, visit redcrossblood.org/give.html/find-drive and use sponsor code MountProspectPD, or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767)
Mount Prospect police first met Anthony and learned his story two years ago at a police department community engagement event. His spirit, courage and personality shined, and the department wanted to help by hosting Anthony's annual blood drive, police said.
