Q&A

Q: Why are you running for this office, whether for reelection or election the first time? Is there a particular issue that motivates you?

A: Making sure the education of my children is done well thought out and safely.

Q: What is the role of the school board in setting and monitoring curriculum?

A: The role of the school board is to review what is taught and what materials are used. It is important to make sure a wide amount of information and views are available for multiple subjects.

Q: Are there curriculum issues within the district that you feel need particular attention from the board?

A: At this time I believe the material used for the districts curriculum is appropriate and well managed.

Q: How do you view your role in confronting policy or curriculum controversies: provide leadership even if unpopular, give a voice to constituents - even ones with whom you disagree, or defer to state authorities?

A: I think all sides of any controversies have the right to be heard and publicly express themselves. This is even if I don't personally support the view. The freedom of thoughts and stating your view is vital not only in the maters of education but in our society.

Q: Concerns are growing regarding a new resurgence of the pandemic. If another massive outbreak of infectious disease occurs, what have we learned from the COVID-19 pandemic that will guide your decision making?

A: I think we learned a lot about the poor affects to students of shutting down schools and remote learning. With that being said we would need to truly understand the threat and remember to place the children first.

Q: Describe your experience working in a group setting to determine policy. What is your style in such a setting to reach agreement and manage school district policy? Explain how you think that will be effective in producing effective actions and decisions of your school board.

A: I am currently the Vice President of the Learning Fund Foundation. Our group is small yet we run some very effective events in the district. I believe collaborating with our small group regarding fundraising etc. ... is a large self awareness of what goes on in our district.

Q: What makes you the best candidate for the job?

A: My love for my boys and the passion I have for the district. I believe that every child should have access to get the best education possible and I believe our district provides this.

Q: What's one good idea you have to better your district that no one is talking about yet?

A: I love that our district has an early childhood program. The concern I have is that every time there is an early dismissal day the children enrolled loose a day of education. My idea would be to work on this to see if there is a way to have the children enrolled in this program not have to miss school.
