Seven District 211 candidates to attend public forum Saturday

Seven of the 13 candidates for four seats on the Palatine-Schaumburg High School District board of education have confirmed their attendance at Saturday's nonpartisan forum hosted by the Schaumburg Township Republican Organization.

Five others say they're facing scheduling conflicts, while Angela Geitner confirmed she's dropping out of the April 4 election.

Those who will attend the free public forum are incumbents Kimberly Cavill, Mark J. Cramer and Steven Rosenblum, and newcomers Meenal Dewan, Susan L. Saam, Joan Sherrill and Barbara A. Velez.

The event begins at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 28, at the Schaumburg Township building, 1 Illinois Blvd. in Hoffman Estates.

Candidates unable to attend due to conflicts are incumbent Peter R. Dombrowski and newcomers Michelle Barron, Aiden Branss, Jane Russell and Jennifer Wesche.

Those who plan to attend are asked to RSVP so the organizers can get an estimate of the size of the audience. Register at stgop.org or call (224) 353-6543.

Former Schaumburg Trustee Patrick Riley will moderate the forum.

Schaumburg Township Republican Committeeman Joe Folisi has emphasized the nonpartisan nature of the event, saying his organization will not endorse candidates in the District 211 race.

The format will include a short introduction followed by an opportunity for the candidates to state their platforms and objectives, followed by a question-and-answer period and closing comments.

A random drawing immediately before the event will determine the order in which the candidates will speak.

District 211 operates Conant, Fremd, Hoffman Estates, Palatine and Schaumburg high schools.
