One injured in Crystal Lake house fire
One person was injured in a house fire Monday in Crystal Lake.
The four people and two dogs living at the single-story home had escaped by the time firefighters arrived around 5 p.m.
One of the home's occupants was hospitalized with nonlife-threatening injuries after being burned while closing an interior door during their escape, officials said.
When firefighters arrived, there was smoke coming from the roof and there were flames coming from a first-floor bedroom, according to a news release issued by the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department.
The fire was extinguished less than 20 minutes after firefighters arrived, officials said.
The home sustained heat, water and smoke damage and will be uninhabitable until repairs are made. The fire remains under investigation
