Mundelein park district holding pumpkin-decorating contest
The Mundelein Park & Recreation District is holding a pumpkin-decorating contest, with the winner receiving a $30 gift card.
Category prizes also will be awarded.
Pumpkins must be dropped off at Mundelein Community Center, 1401 N. Midlothian Road by Oct. 9 to be displayed. Entry cost is $5 and $9 for nonresidents.
Voting will be from Oct. 10-27. Anyone is welcome to visit the community center to vote for their favorite pumpkin with loose change. All proceeds will go to the Mundelein Parks Foundation, which provides scholarships for kids to participate in extracurricular activities.
Pumpkins must be picked up between Nov. 1 and Nov. 3 or they will be composted.
