Mount Prospect village board on the road again
Mount Prospect's village board is taking its act on the road for the second time this year, with a neighborhood meeting next week in northeastern part of town.
The town-hall event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the Burning Bush Community Center, 1313 Burning Bush Lane. It takes the place of the board's regularly scheduled committee-of-the-whole meeting that night.
Village officials say it will give residents an opportunity to address the village board, share concerns and ideas, and ask questions. In addition to the mayor and trustees, representatives of village departments will attend.
It follows up on a campaign promise Mayor Paul Hoefert made during the 2021 election, when he said he would take board meetings "on the road" to eight different sections of Mount Prospect. A similar meeting was held in June at the RecPlex on the south side of town, where more than 50 residents attended to discuss issues such as the CloudHQ data center development.
The plan is to hold a meeting on the road once a quarter.
"I think it is important to go where the people are, and in a less formal and imposing setting," Hoefert said. "We really want to know what people are thinking and what their concerns are."
The meeting also will be rebroadcast on Xfinity and Astound cable channel 17 and later made available on the village website.
