Glenview fireworks rescheduled to Aug. 19

The Glenview Park District has rescheduled its Twilight Fireworks show that had been postponed from July 4.

The show will be viewed from Gallery Park, 2001 Patriot Blvd., on Friday, Aug. 19.

The Glenview Park District invites the community to grab a picnic dinner from home or their favorite local restaurant and enjoy music from a disc jockey beginning at 7 p.m., followed by a 26-minute fireworks show synchronized to music. The fireworks will begin at approximately 8:20 p.m.

"This is a great opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate one of our last Friday evenings of summer," said Michael McCarty, executive director of the Glenview Park District.

"We're working closely with the Village of Glenview Police, Fire and Public Works departments to help create a safe, secure and enjoyable atmosphere at the park."

The Glenview Police Department will be providing an enhanced layer of security by deploying additional officers in key locations. The village's Public Works team and park district staff will also be working with the police department at the event to provide crowd and traffic control support.

Patriot Boulevard, between Chestnut and West Lake avenues, will be closed to traffic on Aug. 19 beginning at about 5:30 p.m.

All VIP donor parking passes purchased for the canceled Glenview 4th of July celebration will be honored at the Park Center parking lot, 2400 Chestnut Ave. New passes will be issued for this event. VIP donors can pick up their new passes at the Park Center front desk beginning Monday, Aug 8. All other event parking will be free.

Food will not be sold at the event. People arriving early to picnic should plan on bringing their own blankets and food items. Portable toilets and hand-washing stations will be located throughout the park.
