Naperville Salute's four-day celebration starts Friday

For those who didn't get enough of the inaugural Naperville Salute last year, there's an extra day to enjoy this weekend.

The Naperville Salute - a four-day July Fourth celebration of active military members, veterans and first responders - begins Friday at Rotary Hill with family fun and live entertainment.

In the second year of the event, organizers added a fourth day to take advantage of the long holiday weekend. All proceeds from the Naperville Salute, which is run by a team of volunteers, will go to Naperville Responds For Veterans to assist local veterans in need.

Tickets, which can be purchased at NapervilleSalute.org, are $5 on Friday and $15 on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free on Monday.

While the food, drink and live entertainment will be found at Rotary Hill, located at 443 Aurora Ave., the fireworks on Sunday will take place at the Frontier Sports Complex at 3380 Cedar Glade Road.

Shining Star, an Earth, Wind & Fire tribute band, headlines the live music offerings Friday at Rotary Hill. Saturday is Country Night while Sunday's theme is Rock on the Hill. Five bands will play for free on Monday.

In addition to food, drink and entertainment, the Naperville Salute - which is being held in partnership with the city of Naperville, the Naperville Park District and a team of sponsors - will have a Family Fun Zone and hold a 5K Ruck March and Run.
