Northbrook home damaged after lightning strike

Residents of a Northbrook house that fire officials believe was struck by lightning during Monday's storm are expected to be displaced until repairs can be made.

Northbrook Fire Chief Andy Carlson said fire crews were called to the house on the 2100 block of Evert Court at 6:30 p.m. by residents who reported activated smoke alarms inside the house.

Firefighters discovered smoke inside the attic of the home's attached garage and extinguished a fire inside within 15 minutes.

The home sustained some smoke and water damage and was deemed uninhabitable. No injuries were reported.

No damage estimate was immediately available.
