Addison Trail student charged with threatening school

An Addison Trail High School student was charged Thursday with falsely reporting a threat to the school.

Michael Gamboa, 18, of the 2N100 block of Vista Avenue, Lombard, is free on $500 bond. Gamboa is a senior at the school.

He faces one count of felony false report of a threat to a school building or person.

According to authorities, students found a photo on Instagram Thursday depicting a male holding a black gun. The image had a "threatening" caption, according to a news release from the DuPage County state's attorney's office. After a student told a teacher, the school was locked down, and police were notified. The post had been made around 11:45 a.m., according to court records.

Police found a 9 mm pistol in Gamboa's parents' bedroom.

Michael Gamboa's next court date is June 13.

Additionally, his father, Jesus Gamboa, 54, was charged with felony possession of a weapon by a felon. He was approved for a $25,000 personal-recognizance bond. His next court date is June 24.
