Wisconsin man critically injured in motorcycle crash near Wauconda

A 37-year-old Wisconsin man driving a motorcycle near Wauconda was critically injured and hospitalized after failing to negotiate a curve in the roadway Tuesday evening, according to the Lake County sheriff's office.

Sheriff's Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said the man, whose identity has not been released, was traveling north on Darrell Road around 7:30 p.m. near West Neville Road in Wauconda Township when he lost control, drove into a ditch and struck a small tree.

The man was thrown from the motorcycle and rushed to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries, Covelli said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
