License plate reader alerts Northbrook police to stolen car

Two Chicago men were charged after a stolen car was discovered in Northbrook via an automated license plate reader.

The unoccupied vehicle was discovered Tuesday afternoon on the 900 block of Skokie Boulevard. An investigation led authorities to Eric A. Osorio, 20, and Duran Scarbrough, 21, according to a news release issued Wednesday by Northbrook police.

Osorio was found in possession of two handguns with one extended magazine, two car key fobs and an illegal controlled substance, police said. He was charged with two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, one count of a controlled substance and one count of a possession of a stolen vehicle.

Scarbrough was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance as well as one count of criminal trespass to vehicle.
