Schaumburg man charged with DUI, intent to deliver cannabis in Bartlett

A Schaumburg man faces charges of driving under the influence of drugs and possession of cannabis with intent to deliver stemming from a traffic stop Friday in Bartlett.

Edwin Orea, 19, also was cited for driving 21 to 25 miles per hour above the posted speed limit, police said Monday.

According to police, a Bartlett police officer saw a 2012 Dodge Charger speeding east on Army Trail Road near Petersdorf Drive at about 11 p.m. Friday.

The officer stopped the vehicle and the driver, identified as Orea, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

After the arrest, the officer reportedly discovered more than 30 grams, but not more than 500 grams, of cannabis inside the vehicle, police said.

Orea's bond was set at $10,000, of which he was required to post 10% to be released from custody.

He was assigned a court date of Friday at the DuPage County courthouse in Wheaton.
