2nd suspect in McHenry intersection shooting captured

A 26-year-old Zion man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with the August shooting that left more than 50 shell casings scattered at a McHenry intersection.

A criminal complaint was filed in McHenry County court against Deontae M. Wade on Aug. 30, the day after the shooting at Route 31 and Bull Valley Road, but Wade wasn't arrested until last week.

Another man - Dante L. Terrell Jr., 29, of Zion - was arrested the day of the shooting and faces multiple felony charges, including attempted murder, McHenry Police Department said.

Wade was arrested following a traffic stop by the Lakemoor Police Department about 11:30 p.m. Friday near Route 120 and Darrell Road, according to the McHenry Police Department's news release.

The driver of a red 2012 Chevrolet, whom McHenry police identified as Wade, provided the Lakemoor officer with false information about his identity and then attempted to flee on foot, according to the release.

Wade was charged with obstruction of justice and identification, resisting arrest and other traffic offenses in Lake County following the incident. Those charges were dismissed Tuesday, court records show.

Wade was transferred to the McHenry County jail Tuesday evening.

Prosecutors have alleged Terrell was driving away from a football game at Prairie Ridge High School in a red Jeep Compass when a Nissan Maxima approached the intersection.

Terrell is accused of shooting at the Nissan, and Wade is accused returning fire, according to the indictment.

Gunfire struck a third vehicle at that intersection, but there were no injuries.

Both men face two counts of attempted murder, as well as additional felony charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, unlawful use of a weapon, and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

Bond was set at $750,0000 for Wade, and he would need to post $75,000 to be released pending trial. Terrell remains in the county jail on $500,000 bond.
