Unoccupied Addison house damaged in fire

A single-family home in Addison undergoing a conversion into apartments suffered an estimated $20,000 in damage from a fire Thursday night.

Addison Fire Protection District officials said they were alerted to the blaze on the 1000 block of South Westgate Street by a passerby just before 9 p.m.

It took about 10 minutes to extinguish the blaze, fire officials said.

The residence was unoccupied at the time of the fire and the cause is still being investigated.

The structure, located on the south end of an industrial park, used to be a residence at a floral nursery years ago, officials said.

Fire officials said the fire was contained to one unit of the building.

No injuries were reported either.
