Glenview Park District hires new communications manager

The Glenview Park District has hired a new director of Brand Strategies and Community Engagement.

Anna Ables will oversee the park district's marketing, public communications, community partnerships and sponsorships. She was hired Dec. 30 after a two-month national search.

Ables was among four finalists from 75 initial applicants. The position was posted with a pay range of approximately $80,000 dependent on qualifications and experience.

Ables previously worked more than 15 years as the director of marketing and public relations for The Theatre School at DePaul University, where she led a rebranding campaign and two website redesigns. She also developed communications and promotions for more than 150 events.

She brings more than 20 years of experience in arts administration and nonprofit management.

A certified project management professional also well-versed in partnership development and fundraising, Ables received a master of fine arts degree in arts administration from Southern Utah University and a bachelor's degree in public relations and communications from Oklahoma City University.

Ables succeeds Jena Johnson, who has served as the Glenview Park District's communications manager since 2014; Johnson's role expanded to Brand Strategies and Community Engagement in 2017.
