Schaumburg hosts community blood drive Jan. 5

The village of Schaumburg is encouraging the public to participate in the first community blood drive of the new year from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 5 at The Barn, 231 S. Civic Drive, Schaumburg.

Interested donors should call (877) 258-4825 or register online at vitalant.org and use sponsor code OR0SH98. Appointments are recommended to reduce wait times; however, walk-ins are welcome.

Vitalant has a critical shortage of all blood types - especially Type O - and urges eligible donors to give blood now to replenish the supply.

Participants must wear a face covering at the event. Safe social distancing measures will be in place. If you are feeling unwell, please stay home.

Participating donors will receive either a Culver's coupon or a coupon for one large, one topping pizza from Papa John's. Donors will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of four $25 gift cards.
