Road closures expected for Wheaton Christmas parade

The Wheaton Christmas Parade will result in some downtown road closures the day after Thanksgiving.

The Wheaton Park District and the Downtown Wheaton Association stage the parade in partnership with the city. It steps off at Wheaton Avenue and Wesley Street at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26.

After the parade, a ceremony will celebrate the "Nights of Lights" holiday display in Adams Park. A countdown begins at about 7:15 p.m.

The following streets are expected to be closed for about an hour after the parade starts at 6 p.m.: Wheaton Avenue between Wesley and Front Street; Front between Wheaton Avenue and Cross Street; Hale Street between Liberty Drive and Front; Main Street between Liberty and Front; and Cross between Liberty and Front.

Karlskoga Avenue also will be closed to all vehicle traffic from 11 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 25, to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26.
