Go Fund Me page established for Glenview man killed in hit and run

A Go Fund Me page has been established in the name of Wojciech "Wojtek" Glowik, the 22-year-old Glenview resident who died Oct. 11 after a hit-and-run crash in Indian Creek.

Created by Alec Petitpren on Oct. 13, the Wojtek Glowik Memorial Fund had set a goal of $15,000. As of the afternoon of Oct. 15, the fund had raised $8,565 from 104 donors.

According to the Lake County sheriff's office, Glowik was discovered at about 2:10 a.m. Oct. 9 by sheriff's deputies responding to a report of a man down on the 200 block of Route 45.

Glowik was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Preliminary autopsy reports indicated Glowik died of multiple injuries suffered in the crash, the Lake County coroner's office said on Oct. 12.

On Oct. 15, acting on a tip by a Wheeling body shop, the vehicle suspected of striking Glowik - a 2014 Audi Q5, according to Lake County Sheriff's police - was seized and was being processed for evidence in the continued investigation.

On the site for the Wojtek Glowik Memorial Fund, Petitpren described Glowik as a senior at Lake Forest College working toward a degree in business finance, which Glowik had hoped to use to open a business of his own.

"He was the most kind young man most people had ever met, with nothing negative to say about anyone," Petitpren wrote.
