West Chicago tables decision on overturning video gambling ban
The West Chicago City Council voted Monday to table two ordinances on allowing and regulating video gambling. A majority of alderman voted for the delay to give West Chicago residents more time to be aware of the pending vote tentatively scheduled for Nov. 1.
When asked whether the city should permit video gambling via a 2018 advisory ballot question, a majority of voters said they did not want the city council to consider allowing the machines. The city previously banned video gambling in 2010, but the city council has been debating overturning that ban during recent meetings.
Neighboring Warrenville recently voted to overturn its citywide ban on video gambling last month. The village of Downers Grove is also considering overturning its video gambling ban.
