No injuries in Cary manufacturing plant fire

No one was injured during a Tuesday morning fire at a Cary manufacturing plant, fire officials said.

The Cary Fire Protection District responded around 6:38 a.m. Tuesday to Durex Industries at 190 Detroit Street in Cary for a report of a structure fire. When they got to the scene, crews found smoke coming from the roof on the rear of the building as employees were evacuating.

Flames were in the ceiling inside the building and on the roof outside, according to a news release from the department. The fire was brought under control within minutes of firefighters arriving.

Employees were able to re-enter the building and the business remains open.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and no damage estimate is yet available.

Fire crews from Algonquin-Lake in the Hills, Barrington, Barrington-Countryside, Fox River Grove and Nunda-Rural fire departments responded to the scene as part of an automatic aid agreement.
