Northfield police reports:

Sept. 26
Criminal damage: Several retaining blocks were moved and a metal decorative piece was damaged sometime between 8:30 p.m. Sept. 25 and 8:35 a.m. Sept. 26 on the 200 block of E. Frontage Road.
Sept. 28
Identity theft: A resident reported several unauthorized uses of their personal information. The detective is investigating.
Oct. 3
Suspicious incident: A Glenview resident was approached by several men around 6:30 p.m. at Sunset Ridge Shell, 469 Sunset Ridge Road. The men aggressively attempted to sell their jewelry, which the Glenview resident declined.
Suspicious incident: A man rode a bike to Fields BMW, 700 W. Frontage Road, just before 8 a.m., then put the bike inside a white cargo van parked in the lot, and then drove away with the van. Officers followed up with Fields BMW management, who indicated no issues with the matter.
Oct. 4
Ordinance violation: Officers spoke with the construction foreman for a paving company working at Temple Jeremiah, 937 N. Happ Road, who unloaded paving machinery and starting work about 6:45 a.m. Officers advised the foreman about construction hours for the village; the foreman, unaware of the hours, stopped all construction work. Officers left the foreman with a warning for the ordinance violation.
Criminal damage: Village public works personnel reported that a freshly poured concrete sidewalk, near Drury and Thackeray lanes, had been defaced and damaged with drawings sometime between Oct. 1-4. It will cost about $350 to replace the concrete.
Oct. 6
Identity theft: An employee of a business on the 800 block of W. Frontage Road reported that an unauthorized business loan in the amount of $132,700 was taken out in early September using the employee's personal information. The detective is investigating.
Harassment: A resident of the 1700 block of Northfield Square reported receiving several harassing text messages between 3:58 and 5:12 p.m.
