Traffic signal work in Wheaton

Traffic signals at two intersections along Main Street in downtown Wheaton will be turned off beginning Tuesday, Sept. 7, and temporarily replaced with stop signs.

Construction crews will replace the traffic signals at Main and Liberty Drive as part of the city's downtown streetscape project, officials said. The traffic signals are connected to the signals at Main and Front Street, which will need to be disabled as well.

There will be four-way stop signs at both intersection for about two weeks while contractors replace the traffic signals, officials said.
