39-year-old Round Lake man killed in I-355 crash
Authorities have identified Kirk T. Kralovetz, 39, as the Round Lake man killed early Sunday morning when his car was rear-ended by a truck on Interstate 355 in Addison.
Kralovetz was pronounced dead at the hospital after the crash, which occurred at 4:19 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-355 near North Avenue, Illinois State Police said.
According to state police, Kralovetz was driving a black Toyota Camry when a Volvo semitrailer truck hit the car from behind. The collision pushed the car to the left shoulder, where it hit a concrete median, ejecting Kralovetz, who was the Camry's only occupant.
The truck's driver, Hussein Muthanna, 37, of Chicago, was taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. He later was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, state police said.
