Schaumburg trustees have unanimously approved a new three-year contract with the village's five fire department captains that includes twice yearly salary increases of 1.25%.

The estimated cost increase in salaries is $70,000 or 11.3% over the three years of the Schaumburg Fire Command Officers Association contract, which retroactively begins on May 1, 2021.

The salary increases take effect on May 1 and Nov. 1 of 2021, 2022 and 2023.

Among the other changes in the contract is that Memorial Day, Labor Day and Thanksgiving will be considered holidays for Schaumburg fire captains beginning in 2021.
