Boat crash victim identified as Fox River Grove man

The McHenry County coroner's office identified the man who died Wednesday in a boat crash in Holiday Hills as a Fox River Grove resident.

Raymond Jezierski, 58 was pronounced dead on scene at the 2400 block of South Riverview Drive about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, the coroner's office said in a news release Thursday. An autopsy performed Thursday morning showed Jezierski's cause of death was blunt trauma to the chest.

Police arrived at 3:40 p.m. to a report of a boat on fire, according to ABC 7. Police said Jezierski's boat left Fox River, hit a tree and caught fire. A witness put out the flames and found Jezierski trapped between the boat and a tree, according to the report.

The crash took place about one-half mile south of the McHenry Dam, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police told ABC 7.
