St. Charles narrows alderman search to four candidates

St. Charles has narrowed its search to four candidates to replace 1st Ward Alderman Dan Stellato, the city council's longest-tenured member who resigned last month because he's moving to Arizona.

Among the candidates vying for the seat is Richard Balla, who lost to Ron Silkaitis in the April election and is vice president of accounting at Tour Edge Golf in Batavia. Zachary Ewoldt, a gas system analyst with Peoples Gas in Chicago, is also a candidate along with Thomas Galante, a member of the St. Charles natural resources commission and a pricing manager at SunSource in Addison, and Don Kage, an auto body technician for Tesla in Elk Grove Village.

The candidates will be interviewed by the city council in executive session at Monday's meeting. The selected candidate will be nominated for city council approval at a future meeting.
