Two charged in Naperville gun shop burglary

Two suburban men face federal conspiracy and theft charges stemming from a 2020 burglary at a Naperville gun store.

Federal prosecutors said 34-year-old Roneal Nightengale of Glendale Heights was arrested this month in Arizona and pleaded not guilty to multiple charges Tuesday.

Nightengale is accused of driving two other men to the gun shop on June 1, 2020 where they broke in and stole a dozen handguns.

According to the indictment, Nightengale searched for the location of the gun shop hours before the break-in and drove 36-year-old Eric Rowe of Bellwood and an unnamed third accomplice to the store at 9 p.m.

Rowe and the third man entered the building and stole the guns while Nightengale waited outside and drove the getaway car, according to the indictment.

Rowe is not in custody and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

If convicted, both men face up to 10 years on the theft charges and up to five years on the conspiracy charges, authorities said.
