Barrington fire district staff, board members honored

The Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District in a May 17 ceremony honored individuals for their longtime service, recognized newly promoted officers, and welcomed firefighters who completed their one year of probationary service in 2020.

"This ceremony is an opportunity to spotlight our most important assets: our people," Fire Chief Jim Kreher said.

Service awards went to Trustee Tom Long for 25 years of board service; Battalion Chief Jeff Tress for 20 years of service; and Trustee Keith Hanson, Fire Prevention Director Robert Martel and firefighter/paramedic Mike Delillo, all for five years of service.

Those promoted were Angela Grandgeorge to battalion chief; and Justin Kenyon and Zach Major to captain.

The annual awards ceremony normally takes place in January but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The district serves portions of Barrington Hills, South Barrington, Lake Barrington, Inverness, and sections of unincorporated Cook, Lake and McHenry Counties.
