Glenview man charged in fatal 2020 Lake Forest hit-and-run

Lake Forest police have arrested a 24-year-old Glenview man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in November.

Police say Zachary Dubofsky was identified as the driver of a Ford F-150 that struck 62-year-old Lake Forest resident Stephen Kennedy just before 11 a.m. Nov. 12, 2020, on the 500 block of Mayflower Road.

Before he was taken to the hospital, Kennedy was able to give police some information about the vehicle that struck him. He later died at the hospital from his crash injuries.

A lengthy investigation ensued. Police ultimately received a search warrant for the vehicle and later determined it was Dubofsky driving the vehicle at the time of the crash, officials said.

Dubofsky was arrested Tuesday and charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death or personal injury.

His bail amount was set at $100,000, police said. He was released from custody after posting 10% bond.

His next court date is slated for May 4.
