St. Charles cancels Spring Clean Up due to COVID-19, budget concerns

Because of continuing COVID-19 pandemic concerns and the impact on the city budget, St. Charles officials for the second straight year have canceled the annual Spring Clean Up program that allows residents to leave all sorts of unwanted items on their curb for pickup.

City officials said the program will be reevaluated to see if it can be continued in a future year. Lakeshore Recycling, the city's refuse contractor, will continue to pick up stickered items that weigh less than 50 pounds.

There are also recycling centers in Batavia and West Dundee, and one in Naperville that's open to Kane County residents. Several recycling events are also scheduled this year in Kane County, mostly at 540 S. Randall Road, and the community garage sale is slated for April 23 and 24.
