A celebration of winter on Bangs Lake in Wauconda

A celebration of all things winter - postponed last week by a little too much winter - brought dozens to the shores of Bangs Lake in Wauconda over the weekend for ice fishing, a pond hockey tournament, snowman building and more.

Hosted by Lindy's Landing, the two-day WinterFest 2021 even included a new addition this year - hovercraft rides over the frozen lake.

"It's really the first (hovercraft) experience for everyone," operator Bill Zang of flyhovercraft.com said. "It's great to see everyone's reaction."

The fest had been scheduled for the previous weekend, but organizers delayed the event a week to avoid subzero temperatures.
