Two charged in burglaries, vehicle theft

A McHenry man and Chicago woman were arrested on charges of burglary and vehicle theft Friday, according to Lake Forest police.

On Friday, Candice Shandor, 33, and Dakotah Beeter, 26, were charged with two counts of felony burglary and one count of possession of a stolen vehicle. The two were found at an Airbnb in Oak Brook Terrace where police found evidence implicating the two in recent similar crimes in the Chicago area.

Shandor and Beeter were originally identified as suspects after a January 18 traffic stop on a vehicle that had been stolen from Lake Forest.

After an investigation, officers were able to recover a 2012 Audi A4 stolen from 90 East Franklin Place at a Gurnee motel. Inside the vehicle was stolen mail and other pieces of evidence. At a hotel room in the same location, police recovered more stolen mail, credit cards in multiple names and matching clothing from surveillance photos.

After getting a positive identification of Shandor and Beeter, officers attempted to serve warrants in several locations in Lake, Cook, McHenry and DuPage counties. The McHenry County sheriff's office, Chicago Police Department, Illinois Department of Corrections, Oak Brook Terrace Police Department and DuPage County sheriff's office all assisted Lake Forest police in serving the warrants before locating the two in Oak Brook Terrace.

Shandor and Beeter provided statements to the police and are being held at the Lake County jail on $200,000 pending a court hearing.
