ATHLETE OF THE WEEK, SPONSORED BY GIOSTAR CHICAGO: GLENBROOK NORTH'S TALIA SIEGEL
Glenbrook North senior Talia Siegel signed her letter of intent to the University of Delaware to be a cheerleader on Jan. 29. Siegel is the first Spartans cheerleader to receive a Division I scholarship. A flyer all four years in the Glenbrook North cheerleading program, she started on the junior varsity squad as a freshman before quickly moving up to varsity. She helped Glenbrook North advance to the 2019 large-school state competition out of the Niles West sectional. Varsity coach Greg Wilhelm called Siegel one of the team's strongest tumblers and added: "Her athleticism and character have been major components of the success of our program for the last few years."
