Firefighter suffers minor injuries battling Algonquin fire

A firefighter sustained minor injuries Tuesday night while battling a house fire in Algonquin, authorities said.

The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District, assisted by five other area departments, responded at about 9:10 p.m. Tuesday to a fire at a two-story single-family home in the 2200 block of Tahoe Parkway.

Firefighters discovered fire and smoke at the rear of the exterior chimney and had the fire under control within about 15 minutes, officials said.

The occupants of the home evacuated before the first firefighters arrived. No civilians were hurt, and no damage estimate was immediately available.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
