Berkshire Hathaway Northbrook office donates $2,000 to local food pantries

The Northbrook office of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago and the firm's philanthropic arm, the Kindness Foundation, announced that they donated $2,000 to Northbrook-area food pantries in December. The Northfield Township Food Pantry and the West Deerfield Township Food Pantry will each receive $1,000. The money is part of a $40,000 donation pool to be distributed to local food pantries in place of the company's annual holiday party.

"We are pleased to be able to support the Northfield Township Food Pantry and the West Deerfield Township Food Pantry," said Katie Roberts, vice president and managing broker of the firm's Northbrook office. "With need so great as a result of the pandemic, these organizations are working harder than ever to help individuals and families right here in our communities and we thank them for their hard work and dedication."

The Northbrook office is one of the company's 19 participating offices throughout Chicagoland, as well as in Indiana and Michigan. Each office chose a 501(c) (3) organization from their local community to embody the mission of the Kindness Foundation which is to support meaningful local initiatives that improve the communities the company serves and enhances the quality of life for fellow citizens.

Started close to 50 years ago, the NTFP was started to assist Township resident who are unable to provide enough food for themselves and their families. Today, many hundreds of Township families are eligible to visit the Pantry that is sustained entirely sustained by residents, civic organizations, schools, business and the faith community who generously donate food items, grocery store cards and cash. The West Deerfield Township Food Pantry offers residents a more personal and choice-based experience similar to shopping in a store.
